Scott McClellen may not have mentioned his displeasure with President Bush because he understood that in the White House Loyality comes before honesty. Ask Tricky Dick. |

I read an article in my local newspaper on 6-14-08 in regards to Senator Conrad, and Senator Dodd receiving special treatment on mortgages from Countrywide Mortgage.I would like to ask first,,how can anyone,Senator or not,not know they were receiving special treatment on their mortgages?According to what I read,Countrywide took off three-eighths of a point off Senator Dodd's $506,000 loan to refinance a Washington townhouse,a savings of about $2000 a year in interest payments for the life of the loan. Also, countrywide took off a quarter-point for a $275,042 loan to refinance a house in East Haddam,Conn.,a savings to Senator Dodd of about $700 a year for the life of the loan. Countrywide, according to what I read, also took off a full 1 percent off the interest rate on a $1.07 million loan,to refinance a vacation home, savings to Senator Conrad of about $10,000 a year over the life of the loan. Now if I figure this out correctly,Senator Dodd saves about $81,000 if the loan was refinanced over 30 years, and half of that if refinanced over 15 years. Also,Senator Conrad saves about $300,000 if his refinance loan is over a 30 year period and half that on a loan over a 15 year period. So,again,I ask how anyone could not know they were getting special treatment on mortgages of these amounts. The problem I have with this is,I refinanced with Countrywide earlier this year and received zero special treatment. As a matter of fact I was told by Countrywide that I had to have private mortgaga insurance, because my appraisal came back not to their liking. They for some reason would not accept the first appraisal that came in from the apprasier that appraised my home.My realestate broker challenged Coutrywide and Countrywide estimated the value of my home at a lower price, resulting in me having to get private mortgage insurance. If you notice,I wrote that Countrywide mortgage estimated the value of home lower,Countrywide never sent or ever saw my home at the time of the refinance. They GUESSED the value. Another problem I have is that,it's my understanding that there is a data base that lenders go based on when it comes to private mortage insurance. The amount for PMI from the data base was cheaper to have, yet I was told that I had to go with the PMI amount offered by Countrywide.Again, they were challenged, and I was told that Countrywide would have to reveiw ALL the mortgages held by them, that have PMI through them, and if I'm correct they would have to offer those who have PMI through Countrywide a chance to receive PMI through the lenders data base, and Countrywide would not do that,in fear of opening a whole can of worms. I,as all tax payers in this country work EVERYDAY to support my family, put food on my table EVERYDAY,and to have a nice home to pay for EVERY MONTH,then open my newspaper to see that those who are suppost to be helping the American people, don't get taken advantaged of from the mortgage lenders and cheaters in this country, only to find out that they are taken care of by those who our Senators are suppot to be stopping.I'm appaulded by the fact that my mortgage lender helps those who are suppost to be straighting out our laws and lending practices to help the middle class American, and ALL Americans for that matter,to see that the only ones they do help are the upper class.Someone needs to investigate Countrywide's lending practices and get to the bottom of who gets special treatment, and who don't.
THANK YOU Countrywide Mortgage, |
