iReporters Spellbox have a great interest in music. So great, that they even have a band in Gainesville, Florida, called Spellbox. Little did they know until a few years ago that their neighbor was none other than legendary musician Bo Diddley, who passed away Monday at the age of 79.

When spellbox learned of his death, they logged on to iReport.com to tell us about the Bo Diddley they knew... the man they knew as a "friend and mentor", who would come to their house and jam with them, and entertain guests at their parties. "He was in a couple of our videos, gave us instruments and foot pedals. We opened a couple of shows for him, and he took us under his wing."

Spellbox went through some of their old videos and even came up with footage of Diddley rehearsing for a performance in Gainesville, and they shared it with the iReport community.

June 05, 2008 4 months ago		bmeforever » Farewell Bo Didley I knew him as a kid on 43rd street in Chicago,when everybody would open their windows and you could hear him for blocks away, he was know as the whochie cochie man.I'm 65years old now so I would say I was about 8 or 9 then, I started a fan club for him back then in the fifties, it only lasted for about a year, so you can say I started Bo Didley 1st fan club. my family so is there anyone out there to share those good old blues days?
August 05, 2008 2 months ago		caesdeamor » I am now 62 years old. And live now in Brasil South America. But I have Bo Didleys music on CDs. And play them so very much that one is now kinda worn out. I feel he was one of the ledgends that are slowly passing on. His style was so honest and true that if you just listen you can feel the heart and soul of the man. The body of the man is gone, but he left his heart and his soul for us to enjoy and commune with. Thanks to a ledgend.
