A news station broadcasted earlier today sais that Home Depot and Loews would be closed today. Needing board to cover my windows, I decided to roam the streets in search for a street vendor. I reluctantly found that a Home Depot were closed in lower income locations but open in the more prominent neighborhoods. Disgusting. I'll never shop at Home Depot again.

Before assuming ask where are the lower income neighborhoods? Were they in more danger of flooding? Ask a few questions before boycotting a business. The obvious first response may not be the correct reason.

EVERYONE was notified early enough to pack up and leave the area. Those people that decided not to listen and stayed and now crying for help to get them out should be charged big bucks for their rescue effort. They are putting other people's lives in danger. These rescuers have families just like them. If people refuse to heed warnings the state & county should make these people sign a waiver stating that they cannot and will not be rescued. This is costing the taxpayers a lot of money to rescue them. If it was up to me, I'd turn a deaf ear on you.

Gas has soared to over 4.20 a gallon in Augusta,Ga. 10 gallon limit on prchases, long lines and stations running out of fuel, in an area which has recently suffered from drought conditions and currently is otherwise not affected by Ike.

Ref Hurricane Ike. I'm at Ft Bragg NC. The gas prices in 100 mile radius went up $2.00 over night. Today we are making list of gasoline, trash bags, paint, batteries, heating oil, mobile oil & transmission and other petroleum products related to the to the chemical companies in the Gulf Coast. Though it's probably too late now, Pres Bush should have directed the Sec of Commerce & Transportation to conscript all oil tankers to remove as much oil as possible in convoys along designated corridors to safety. Also to direct gas merchants not to price gouge effective immediately!! Some peolpe did not evacuate not because of arrogance but because there was no gas to be had. PAY ATTN TO THE RIPPLE EFFECT. NO POLITICS TODAY. Last, Pres. Bush should express sympathy and prayers to our Carribean neighbors and to Mexico. I live in northeastern Arkansas and our gas prices have taken a HUGE leap today from $3.70 to $4.20. Some towns near where we live are seeing $4.90 regular gas.

you know how you get a bill from the ambulance service if you need to go to hospital???? Well the people who refused to leave when a manditory evacuation order was put in place, should be billed for any rescue service given to them. Why should the other tax payers that left the danger zone have to pay their bill???

There is a web site called hurricanehousingsearch.org that survivors can access to find short and long term shelter from the hurricane. The housing is all over the country and open to people and animals. Please put out on the news so hurricane survivors have a place to look if they need help with housing.

I totally agree with the comments of gilldreams! With all of nature's destruction that have hit this country I cannot remember when a statement "leave or die" was given. Yet you always have those idiots that tempt nature. That was their choice! Let them live with it.
The cost of repairs after Ike are bad enough. Think about the ADDITIONAL monies, that we do not have, that will be spent on RESCUING those that refused to leave!

I could care less who wins the election because nothing will change regardless and I refuse to vote for the evil of two lessers, and that applies to congress aswell. If I were voting I would simply vote AGAINST the incumbant regardless of party. We are now a Socialist Nation.

You think both parties are the same? It is the Democratic leadership who are the cowards. Republican deregulation and lack of oversight is the root cause, starting with Reagan, then Bush 41, exacerbated by Clinton bowing to the Republican controlled Congress, then strongly pushed by de facto President Cheney and his sock-puppet, Bush 43.

Also, the Republicans, who always called for an "up or down" vote when they were in power, and called any threat to filibuster, "obstructionism," have now filibustered in one session of congress more than any session in history.

The Republican party marches in lock-step (goose-step) with the Neo-cons.

At least Obama and many Democrats want to protect the middle class. Republicans, and some conservative Democrats, are only interested in protecting Wall Street, and screw the middle class!
