When the second debate between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama ended, iReporters had a lot to say about it and Steve Kastenbaum of CNN Radio was listening.
Kastenbaum gathered an audio roundtable of iReporters
immediately following the debate. He spoke to iReporter
sankofa1867
(real name: Jordan Sarver), a supporter of Obama, who responded to
McCain's linking of Obama to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. McCain
supporter
mongo9584
(real name: Kevin Neugebauer) praised McCain's plans to cut taxes,
while undecided iReporter
BarbRad (real
name: Barbara Rademacher), said she felt "disillusioned" with both
candidates prior to the debate, and was relieved to see a lack of
personal attacks in the debate. You can listen to
the
entire segment here.

I THINK THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO WON OR LOST THE DEBATE LAST
NIGHT, IT MATTERS THAT ALL OF AMERICA LOSES IF BARRACK OBAMA IS
ELECTED PRESIDENT. IT IS NOT ENOUGH THAT WE KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT
HIS PAST BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW IS THAT HE HAS OR HAS HAD ASSOCIATIONS
WITH MEN LIKE JEREMIAH WRIGHT, FATHER MICHAEL PFLEGER, WILLIAM
AYERS AND OTHERS THAT HAVE POLITICALLY AND FINANCIALLY GIVEN HIM
SUPPORT AND WHO HE HAS ALSO GIVEN SUPPORT TO. THESE ARE PEOPLE THAT
HAVE PUBLICLY EXPRESSED THERE HATRED FOR AMERICA.
ALSO, WHATS IN A NAME? DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY HE HAS GIVEN HIMSELF A MUSLIM NAME? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT IF YOU DID NOT HAVE MUSLIM TIES. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO WILLING TO FOLLOW A MAN THAT HAS TERRIOST AND RADICAL ALLIES? READ THE FACTS ABOUT BARRACK OBAMA BEFORE YOU DECIDE THAT THE KIND OF CHANGE HE IS PROMISING FOR AMERICA WILL BENEFIT AMERICANS. IF IT IS CHANGE OR THE FACT THAT THIS COULD BE HISTORY IN THE MAKING, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GIVE THE REPUBLICANS FOUR MORE YEARS AND THEN FIND A DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE THAT IS PATRIOTIC TO OUR COUNTRY TO HOLD OFFICE. FOUR MORE YEARS OF THE SAME SOUNDS FAR BETTER THAN FOUR YEARS OF A SCARY MAN WITH A SCARY PAST THAT CAN ONLY DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY. I READ AN EDITORIAL TODAY THAT MENTIONS A BOOK CALLED "THE CASE AGAINST BARRACK OBAMA" BY DAVID FREDDOSO. THE BOOK IS BACKED UP BY 35 PAGES OF DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT THE MAIN TEXT. SINCE WE ALL KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT OBAMA WE SHOULD GO OUT AND GET A COPY BEFORE WE MAKE THE WORST MISTAKE OF OUR LIVES!

Wow, Amerikel.... where should I start? I know you have heard of
the saying "Mixing Apples with Oranges". You are confusing Muslims
that convert to that religion and give themselves a Muslim name to
reflect such when Sen. Obama was given that name at birth like most
of us Christians!!!! He had no choice in the matter. Hopefully
you're better informed!!! Now, about the terrorist ties... Are you
aware that the same person (Bill Ayers) whom you are referring to
was funded by a major McCain supporter and fundraiser? I'm sure you
wasn't, but let me help you out since it is my duty to help educate
people. Who you vote for is on you. We are all entitled to vote for
who we see to be the best person, but what you should not do is
raise question that are one misleading and plain ignorant!!!
The book you are referring too. Well, what can I say we can read many more books that tell you another story. Jim Crow laws were supoorted by far more than 35 pages. Need I go on? Since you talk about associations I challenge you to find what McCain associations are I'm almost positive you will find more of the same!! I'm sure you are so wealthy that this financial crisis does not bother you, however, your postings tells me otherwise. So, focus on what is important and stop falling into the trap of ignorance! Dem. or Rep. none of us can afford living in a cardboard box. I assure you that you would put a bullet in your head if you lose what little you have!

YOUR RIGHT TRUELY, I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT BARRACKS NAME AND I
WOULD CERTAINLY BE WILLING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HIS CHILDHOOD. MAYBE
YOU COULD EDUCATE ME. AS FAR AS THE REST OF WHAT I SAID WELL THAT
CAME FROM AN EDUCATOR AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY.
OH AND BY THE WAY, I DON'T BELIEVE THE MCCAIN SUPPORTER YOUR TALKING ABOUT IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
|
October 09, 2008 1 month ago |
Wheather they are running or not you brought up the fact about
associates. Thats why I said it. You also brought up the fact that
you do not know Sen. Obama. I'm sure you do not know McCain either
or how he voted in his 20 plus years in Congress. One ticket talks
about doing new things and being the outsider while the other talks
about whats more important to most voters. If we look at this from
the middle both side have guys that has been around since dirt
while having two that are fairly new.
Just like fraction that arguement cancels one another out. As for your Stanford educator, we can make anything look like a sheep. He's more interested in making money than telling you the truth believe me he is!!

How about an online debate? Summary: for 5 days each candidate
submits a blog about HIS SOLUTION (no, absolutely no mention of
anyone elses but HIS SOLUTION) for each topic. The emphasis should
be on specifically HOW to accomplish his solution. NO HISTORY OR
BLAME--ONLY SPECIFIC PLANS--AND STAY ON THE SUBJECT!!! Topics: 1.
TAXES 2. JOBS 3. EDUCATION 4. ENERGY 5. IRAQ/AFGANISTAN

Forks, have you
watched the Bio of Palin? She had a history to BETRAY HER
MASTERS. Also, she has a lot of "GOOD FRIEND" like Sen. Ted
Stevens who helps to meet a lot of Washington insiders; and who
helps her hire lobbyist to get earmark money.
She got $976 million dollars for Alaska last 2 years.... my goodness she is the BIGGEst GOLD DIGGER in the world. Therefore, I think she is hurting and dangerous to Mcc. will suffer big pain on this woman since she had a history to betray her MASTERS. She betrayed her former Mayor who she met at the gym who invite her to work for him. After 1 year , she kicked him out of the Mayor's office. 2 years later, she meet the Governor and he ask her to work for him at the Oil&Energy department, 1 year later, she kicked him out of that office. but, I just wonder, why the Governor hug her and said 'are you happy? are you ok? we will do everything to get you elected' ---------this segment in her Bio Review from CNN, FOX and MSNBC.

I just don't know what to say anymore. The media is so in bed with
Obama its silly. If there was news about McCain having associations
with a terrorist, he would have dropped out of the race by now. The
thing I really don't get about the liberals is that they just don't
seem to care to question these things. They've already made their
decisions and nothing can possibly sway them from that. I can't say
I blame them though. Anywhere you look, ever article is about how
wonderful Obama is and any headline is skewed towards the negative
against McCain. I'm not even necessarily voting for McCain but it
just makes me angry that the media decides the election and that
the people seem to fall for it. Where did Obama come from? He was a
nobody and is suddenly this celebrity untouchable figure. Its just
all a little to strange to me. Why do people want to immediately
dismiss his ties to terrorists?
Check out the TOP article on CNN right now. It talks about Obama could steal Virginia which is a traditional red state. You read the article and the only polls they site are NATIONAL polls, NOT polls from VA. So they are drawing the conclusion that Obama could steal VA on the basis that Obama is winning national by 4 points? Seriously? THis is a top article? Apparently CNN has already decided the winner of VA. Its just hard not to be angry if you open your eyes. How can a person not be scared by this article http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=308272698295150&kw=buying,white,house Sad that you have to look at financial newspaper to find any non-liberal biased news. Ok I'm done. Thanks

I'm sorry barbrad but- mccain did make personal attacks on Obama,
and glad to say obama did respons to him on the most important
one!!! I would like to see a debate where just for once mccain
would stick to issues and not respond by saying obama did this or
didnt do that! He tries SOOOO hard to take the focus off himself,
it is as if he totally has something to hide. MAybe at the next one
he will give us STRAIGHT answers on the issues and stop lying and
pointing finger! and most of all, he (mccain) is an admitted
WOMANIZER, so the pointing out obamas ills is VERY unbecoming

What happened to common sense. Why do we feel the need to explain
ourselves to the Republicans. Just because they are in denial
doesn't mean it aint so Joe!!! lol They play dumb when it comes to
Sarah Palin. When she herself has made it very clear how stupid she
is when it comes to any political issues. Just because she isn't
old and gray like MCBUSH is no reason to deny this fact. What
aboout the investIgation going on in Alaska (TROOPGATE). SHe abused
her power there and that's what she plans on doing as VP. Right now
she's thinking MCCain is just her one stepping stone away from her
running for Prez. But the American people are too smart for all her
hoky, winking, and mud slinging. That's why my vote will be for
BARRACK HUSSIEN OBAMA

LETTER TO ALL MEDIA
I am a proud Canadian who has a love for the USA and the people who live there. Anytime I have visited your Country I saw beautiful things and met wonderful people. I would and will visit again so this letter is not about Americans on the whole, but specifically two citizens and their "followers". McCain and Palin have increasingly made me cringe (as a reporter said recently, even my "cringe reflex is exhausted") with the things they have been saying. Every day they get increasingly angry, desperate, mean, deceptive, erratic, well I am sure you get the point. I have always known if I was blessed enough to live in your country I would be an Obama supporter, actually most Canadians feel that way. However, I liked and respected McCain. Now I have to say Enough is Enough. Palins' speeches using words like terrorism and Obama are sickening, literally. Just look at the reaction of her "disciples" as they shout hatred from where they stood. Worse yet, not only did those individuals feel it was appropriate to say such things, obviously Palin felt the same, as she did not address those comments immediately to the individuals and denounce such hatred and bias. It borders on inciting a riot and breeding fear and hate for Obama. I thought she was Religious so where is the not judging part of that life? I am a proud Christian woman and her words do not fall into the category of the Christianity that I was taught and believe. I understand completely that BOTH campaigns will be deceptive or put a negative spin on things the other said. I completely understand that promises are made during campaigns that may never be fulfilled once the candidate gets into office. What I do not understand is the acceptance of grossly insulting ads, personal attacks, and anger. I don't understand how they can make commercials such as the Sex Education ad. I don't understand how the McCain/Palin "Maverickship" can avoid substantive talks and can openly admit they are trying to avoid the economy and will attack Barack on the quality of the man and not the issues that are so desperate for the American public. They would rather take a man of integrity and lie about him than deal with what is important. They actually admitted that if they kept talking about the economy they would lose. WHAT? Doesn't that make people wonder how he will avoid the big issues if he becomes President? I have written to CNN numerous times and did not really expect it to be read but today I heard something that made me so angry and offended I knew I would send this to as many American Media companies as I could find. Today, McCain was discussing the Healthcare in the USA and instead of giving details about how he would heal your system he decided to comment on others, including mine. The Canadian Healthcare System, MY Healthcare System, may not be perfect but let us compare for a moment shall we? My mother had breast cancer last year and because she did not have to worry about the cost of treatment, she survived. Knowing her financial situation, I can tell you she could not have afforded the surgery and chemotherapy. She lived because in Canada we believe those who have little should get the same health care and treatment as those with much. Would she have survived cancer living in the USA? I am undergoing testing for a debilitating neurological disorder and if I had to pay for the care I would simply have to suffer since I am on a disability income and could not afford it. I get to go to the doctors I need to, get the tests I need, and the care that comes with that so maybe my illness will get treated. I have a son and I never had to worry about his check-ups, shots, emergencies, or any other health issue. I knew my son would get healthcare no matter what my income may be. EVERY Canadian citizen gets healthcare, isn't it into the millions of Americans who can't or they get substandard care based on how rich they are? Even the poorest of the poor, the too often invisible, homeless in Canada get the same right to be medically treated and our hospitals do not dump them on the streets. We are an imperfect system at times on many levels as is every country but we try to treat the sick, prevent disease, provide treatment to every income (or lack thereof) level. It is also important for me to point out that Canada has been like family to the USA. Our soldiers are spilling their blood, losing their lives, living in hell in a war in Afghanistan because we, unlike many other supposed friends of America, stood beside you and put our men and women with yours. Rarely is Canada ever mentioned when the USA names their closest and best friends/allies. On 9/11 Canada stepped in and allowed planes to land all the while uncertain as to the threat to our Country and people. From everything I heard the Americans forced to stay in my wonderful country were treated with warmth and respect. I, and my fellow Canadians , shed rivers of tears after the horrific attacks on your Country. We placed cards, flowers, posters at the Embassy here, we signed a guest book as a show of support. We wept as we watched people beg for help finding missing loved ones. Our hearts bled for America. I personally had CNN on for days, refusing to turn it off no matter how heart wrenching it was because I knew those people, those mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, could not simply turn off the TV and escape the pain. We, the world, owed it to Americans to cry for them, pray for them and love them and so we did! Both campaigns claim to want to restore America's image. Let me tell you as a part of that global public, it is not the citizens that have caused your Country's image to slide, it was your Government and the choices they made, the lies they told. My personal image of the American people is one of respect, admiration and affection. My opinion of the Government ruled by President Bush however is not so good. McCain showed disdain for my Country, not so much in the words but in the tone, the almost sneer in his voice. If McCain and Palin are elected I fear your Country's image globally will get worse, they cannot restore your image when they have lost their integrity during this campaign. As a Canadian I hope Obama wins come November 4th, I truly believe he will not only restore the image but make new allies, strengthen old ones, and guide the USA and the World into a more peaceful place through intelligence and not muscle. Having been watching the election since the primaries, I think it is clear that many McCain/Palin supporters are angry and rude. Why is McCain so mad all the time? Obama is relaxed, calm and much more reassuring. It is a case of Brain over Brawn, the Brain usually gets it right, Brawn just destroys it. Obama is the Brain, Bush was the Brawn and look where that went, and now McCain, even Palin, are an extension of the Bush Brawn Strategy. I have always admired Americans patriotism, activism, and the way you all pull together through tragedy. As McCain continues on this road of repulsive spewing of lies and insults your country seems to become more and more heatedly divided, and it does not enhance your global image. It is time for you all to come together again and say no more to the dirty politics the McCain/Palin ticket seems to want to use to avoid the real issues. I pray for your people as I pray for my own, I respect your citizens as I do my own, I hurt for what your country has endured on so many levels, even the weather worked against you. Please do not take this letter as an insult or criticism of all Americans, it is not. It is simply one Canadian's opinion on what she sees happening and her anger at the disrespect shown my Country by McCain, Canadians are very proud and patriotic too. I will be watching November 4th to see if the American people can take a leap of faith and not a step backwards into the same hardship. I will tell you though, that if Obama was not elected and Canada could recruit our Prime Minister from other countries, we would take him here in a heartbeat. Good luck and God Bless America AND my country, Canada!!! NOTE: As I wrote this the DOW dropped close to 700. Shouldn't this be what the American public learn about, hear about, be reassured with real plans and not empty words, or is the whole Ayers controversy more important and will it fix your economy? The answer is simple but it seems some people take the long road there or never even take the chance to go down a different path at all. Don't let the cloud of confusion that McCain and Palin use cause Americans to vote with fear instead of hope. The fear that keep the Ayers story, Keating 5 fluff, Rv. Wright fiasco, always in the forefront and not the important issues such as health care the economy and the global image of the USA. That is why I feel Senator Barrack Obama has the brains to know when to use the Brawn to be able to lead America in a new positive direction. Sincerely, A Proud Canadian and Sister to America Shenna Racine

I need to state the obvious. John McCain so call proposal of
cutting taxes for the large corporations (like AIG)isn't working.
You just have to watch the news to know that. So my question to him
and his loyal followers is: If this one isn't working what makes
him so sure that his other proposals would work. Keeping it real.

John McCain and Sara Palin are nothing more than undercover racist.
I wouldn't be suprised if Sara used her authority to try off Obama
with that wack job of a police organization that is against him.
After all judging the debates and their polices they are building a
bridge to nowhere. More of the same, like his racist twin brother
George Bush.

So let me get this straight...For the last eight years George Bush
has spent trillions of dollars propelling his agenda of keeping the
rich richer and the poor poorer and one month before he leaves
office the reality of total wealth redistribution is on his
doorstep and on his watch? 700 billion dollars will only save a few
of his friends and the rest of the stock market knows it. He was a
total failure before the financial market collapse and this makes
him laughable. I don't have a penny in the stock market and I'm
house hunting.

How can Obama sit there?
Obama set in the church of Rev. Wright for over twenty years. He only left that church when the public complained. Now, the Rev. Wright talked about hating whites, Jews, America and anything not black. Now, Rev. Wright is a man of GOD so he says. When, the pastor preached to hate whites, Obama set there even when he knew that disrespected his white mother and grandparents who loved and raised him. His father did not do that. When, the pastor preached to hate America, Obama as a public official of USA and swore to defend it set as the hate America was strewn. When, the pastor preached hate he disrespected the house of the Lord. Church is for worship of GOD not to preach hate. How, dare Obama set there and listen to the hate in a church. The Rev. was supposed to be a man of GOD and GOD is love. You should never use the house of GOD to spew hate. I totally do not like OBAMA because he disrespects GOD by letting hate enter into his house. His views on the economy and world view is scary but, his lack of respect for the Lord is bad. I am mixed as Obama and attend a black church. Blacks love GOD and I am offended that it makes it look as though black use the house of GOD to preach hate. This is only Rev. Wrights church and his parishioner.

John McCain will keep taxes low. America now has the second highest
corporate tax rate in the world, making America a less attractive
place to do business and forcing many American companies to move
their jobs overseas. John McCain will keep taxes low, and cut taxes
where possible, because American workers deserve the chance to make
fine products here and sell them around the globe.

Will someone please answer this question for me. McCain has been in
the congress for twenty plus years. How come he is talking about he
is feed up with Washington?
Now just a couple of things that make me wonder. How come we have police officers giving their radical views while in uniform? I know some of you are quick to answer but understand the question first!!! NOT IN UNIFORM!! That's flat out wrong and I bet Sen. McCain or Sarah Palin didn't fix that one on the spot...Just makes me believe that I would surely get a ticket for having a certain bump! Last thing I would like to leave you guys with. Vote for whom you want, but please don't spread hatered and ignorance just because your guy is losing. Notice I did not call anyone racist because the vast majority of you hate yourself and that's why you hate the next man or woman. Oh by the way if Sarah Palin was so honest why did her and hubby refuse to answer the grand jury @ first? We're not going to get into the Sarah Palin association with those people whom wants to be seperate!!!!

.....Palin, 44, lists in a March financial
disclosure form an annual income of $125,000 as governor of Alaska.
Her husband, Todd, earned $47,000 as an oil production supervisor
for BP Alaska in 2007 and $46,000 as commercial fisherman. They
also list no credit card debt.
McCain's has assets of between $34 million and $49 million and liabilities of between $4.3 million and $5.8 million, according CFRP. Those liabilities include American Express platinum and Chase Bank credit cards held by Cindy McCain and some of the McCain children. The McCains' assets include real estate holdings in Sedona, Phoenix and elsewhere, investment funds, Anheuser Busch Companies Inc. (NYSE: BUD ) stock, ownership stakes in the Hensley beer distribution company and Cindy McCain's inheritance from a family trust. Cindy McCain, 54, and the McCain children are also partners in a number of limited liability partnerships and corporations that own real estate in Arizona and California . The McCains file separate tax forms but U.S. Senate financial disclosure protocols combine spousal wealth. I don't want to be rude, but: Why? Not, I think, because she's a drug addict and an admitted thief. McCain revealed this week that she was addicted to pain pills for two years. She also said she stole drugs from an organization she created to provide emergency medical services around the world. McCain said she started taking pills - eventually up to 15 or 20 a day - in 1989 after surgery left her in pain. She was also bearing the stress of the harsh publicity over the McCains' link to convicted financier Charles Keating Jr. She said she's remained drug-free since 1992, with one brief lapse. Hers is a sad tale, but hardly distinctive; addiction and thievery are pretty common these days. In fact, about one of every four inmates in Arizona 's bloated, fantastically expensive prison system is locked up on drug charges. That, by the way, is thanks to mindlessly punitive anti-drug policies supported by officials like, well, like Sen. McCain and Gov. Symington. But don't worry, Cindy McCain won't go to prison. Prison is for bad people, not for those with ''health problems.'' So. Maybe we're supposed to be proud of McCain simply for admitting her misdeeds. Maybe. Except that her addiction apparently was something a lot of people knew about and that was likely to become broad public knowledge soon anyway. The federal Drug Enforcement Administration had been investigating, and a former employee of McCain's medical team had filed a lawsuit against her over the issue. McCain herself reportedly said that her motive in going public was to beat the rumor mill. So it can't be that either. Should we be proud at the bold way McCain went public? Don't think so. Guided by an entourage of advisers, McCain cleverly pre-empted bad publicity by breaking the news through a selected handful of media outlets. She did this only after completing private treatment, and only after reaching an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office that ensured she would not be prosecuted if she entered a diversion program. So why are we supposed to be proud of Cindy McCain? Answer: We're not. Sympathetic, supportive, tolerant - sure. I don't doubt McCain's physical and mental pain, the power of her addiction, the remorse she feels. But proud? Sorry. That suggestion, I'm afraid, is the product of ''spin,'' of a careful campaign to deflect public attention away from the awkward facts of addiction and theft, and onto the appealing made-for-TV drama of confession. A campaign, in other words, to limit the political damage. It is, once again, the ritualized praising of a celebrity criminal - based upon the murky idea that members of the elite ''suffer'' enough merely by admitting guilt. To which I say: No sale. Not that I want Cindy McCain to go to jail. I'm not even sure she should be punished; if we imprisoned all the secret addicts among Arizona 's privileged classes, we'd need more prisons than even Sam Lewis could dream of. I just wonder why we should be praising her while siccing the cops and the media and the child-welfare workers on all the poor Jane Does who turn to crack to cope with their stresses - stresses perhaps worse even than bad press. I wonder why I couldn't hear our leaders' calls for sympathy and tolerance amid their shouts for heavier weapons and harsher attacks in the War on Drugs. I wonder about the thousands of noncelebrity wretches struggling alone against alcohol or heroin or whichever ''health problem'' plagues them, ignored if not punished by society. I wish Cindy McCain well, but I'll save my cheers for them. MCCAIN'S WIFE LIKELY WON'T BE PROSECUTED STOLE DRUGS FROM CHARITY Published on Tuesday, August 23, 1994 © 1994 The Arizona Republic

Is anyone else scared that McCain is not defusing his angry party
members? I'm referring to the "off with his head" remark, made by a
presumed McCain supporter in reference to Obama. Given the
underlying racial tensions present in the U.S., it is becoming less
and less possible for me to overlook the real threat of angry
racist hate crimes. I'm afraid to say that John McCain's lack of
leadership in controlling his party, may directly result in
possibly the greatest tragedy in our history, and prove just how
not far we have come since the civil rights movement. Please
McCain, don't unleash your crazy pit bulls on our ethical progress.

that? Yet, here there are ready to throw OBAMA to the (Sarah
Palins) wolves???? And why? Because of the color of his skin. Don't

THIS EVENING WHILE WATCHING THE NEWS I WAS OUTRAGED TO SEE AN
IGNORANT OLD WOMAN STATE THAT SHE DIDN'T TRUST BARACK OBAMA BECAUSE
ACCORDING TO HER "HE IS AN ARAB". WHILE I FOUND THIS EXTREMELY
OFFENSIVE; I FOUND SENATORS MCAIN'S RESPONSE TO BE EVEN MORE
OFFENSIVE. HE RESPONDED BY SAYING "NO, NO HE IS A FAMILY MAN AND
DECENT MAN AND A CITIZEN." AS A FIRST GENERATION ARAB AMERICAN I AM
TRULY INSULTED BY HIS REPLY WHICH INSINUATED RACISM WITH A
GENERALIZATION SAYING THAT ARABS ARE NOT DECENT PEOPLE AND FAMILY
ORIENTED PEOPLE. AS AMERICANS WE MUST DECIDE ON NOVEMBER 4 WHETHER
WE REALLY WANT AND NEED A BIGOTED, RACIST PRESIDENT THAT WILL
DIVIDE THIS COUNTRY IN THESE STRESSFULL TIMES.

Don Lemon asked us to comment- Here's mine:
I can't congratualte Sen. McCain for correcting that woman who called Obama an "Arab" because it was HIS campaign that helped to contribute to her misunderstanding. Having Palin go around & say that because he worked with Bill Ayers on poverty and education programs he associates with terrorists, is completely playing into the xenophobic fear and hatred of muslims and Barack Obama's name. It is their campaign and they have helped to create this problem. If they don't have the common sense and DECENCY to tell a voter to STOP when they shout out "terrorist" or "kill him!" then they certainly don't deserve to represent us or our country. Real point is that they shouldn't have gone down this road in the first place. I mean come on, Obama was 8 when Ayers was involved in the Weatherman group. Even Ayers involvment in that doesn't disqualify any good work he did with education and helping the poor. McCain's camp should be ashamed of itself for starting this sick and desperate descent into racism and fear.

It is sad that we call our nation a Christian nation and call
ourselves Christians but finds it so difficult to love our
neighbors as we love ourselves. Our beef with the color of Obama's
skin color is our beef with God, since God created us in His own
image. Sarah Palin is a loose cannon in the McCain camp and perhaps
that is exactly why McCain selected her. I can't imagine why McCain
overlooked, so may more, qualified persons, to select her because
bigotry obviously runs through her veins and arteries instead of
blood. Sadly we preach democracy to the world but can't seem to rid
our nation of color issues. Had Sarah Palin been a person of color
and had abused her office, much like Sarah Palin did as govenor of
Alaska, she would no longer be allowed to continue to run as a vice
president hopeful. When it comes to the color of a person' skin
nothing has changed in this our Christian country but in God we
Trust. May God forgive America?

Bigger Than Ayers [Mark Hemingway]
I've stayed largely silent on the William Ayers controversy because, while associating with someone of that nature is completely reprehensible, I'm not altogether convinced it's a poltically effective attack. (I also wish McCain was putting a better economic message on the table right now as well.) Further, if associating with criminals is a problem - there are more relevant associations with ties to his campaign that everybody ought to be concerned with. I've been screaming into the abyss for some time about Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois state treasurer that Obama endorsed when he ran for office despite no previous political experience, who has been personally mixed up with organized crime via business dealings with his family's bank. Well, guess what - this little nugget turned up in a column in the Chicago Sun-Times: Sneed hears rumbles political fund-raiser/fixer Tony Rezko, who is now singing sweetly to the feds from his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, has been talking about his "dealings" with a Chicago bank, which has political connections. Now that's throw away item in a political gossip column, so I would suggest taking it with a grain of salt. But if there's any truth to it the odds that Rezko is singing about Giannoulias' Broadway Bank are exceedingly high. If Giannoulias turns out to be in legal trouble again, there's no way Obama can disatance himself like he has with Ayers. Giannoulias has been out raising lots of money for his campaign, and was even given a speaking slot at the Democratic convention in August. So Obama chose to have him associated with his campaign. This was well after it became public that Giannoulias had loaned $11.8 million to Michael Giorango, a convicted bookmaker and prostitution promoter. Giannoulias first denied he personally approved the loan, then Chicago Tribune reported that Giannoulias personally oversaw $11.8 million in mortgage loans to Giorango in 2005. Then Giannoulias said the money had not gone to finance Casinos for organized crime. He appears to have lied again: "But newly obtained records show that $3.6 million of the recent loans were used by Giorango and another convicted felon to acquire a casino boat marina in Myrtle Beach, S.C.," reported the Tribune. It's not like the Obama campaign can credibly say they didn't know about this before he was out raising money for the campaign. But I'd like to believe major news agencies might want to pull a few reporters out of dumpsters in Wasilla (probably starting to get really cold up there anyway) and get them to Chicago to look into a potential Rezko-Giannoulias connection toot sweet. Maybe there's nothing there, but it's worth looking into right? I can dream, can't I?

JANESCHNEE.... what exactly does ANY of that have to do with
Obama's ability to be our next president? Saying that Obama working
with Ayers on the Annenberg project for edcuation reform or working
on the Woods Fund to fight poverty is reprehensible is more than
hyperbole and not even true. Ayers was a terrorist when Obama was 8
years old. Does that mean that any good work he is doing as a
professor now means nothing? They did live in the same
neighborhood- that's probably how they came to be associated.
What does this have to do with him becoming president? (rhetorical- nothing.) Trying to link Obama with Ayers or Rev. Wright or Giannoulias is just a covert attempt to draw attention away from the issues: economy, health care, education, the war, our environment, etc. Can we all please talk about what is important to US as Americans? It has nothing to do with the color of his skin, his religion or who he endorsed in his early days. I cannot afford to care about such twaddle- it is a distraction away from the things that are issues affecting us. When will we as Americans learn to VOTE OUR INTERESTS and stop with the personal attacks that really have no bearing on ability.

Barack Obama is more focused on the American people's interest
concerning the economy. Obama outlines in full detail his economic
package that will help the middle class and tighten the squeeze on
the wealthy who John McCain favors for that percentage of American
people who make above or little below $500,000. That is the portion
of American people John McCain will cut taxes for and that are the
RICH. John McCain never explains in detail that he would cut taxes
for. John McCain makes out like he is for all American people,
where he is not! He talks the good talk but does not walk the good
walk. Obama is right when he states it's not fair to burden the
middle class who pays more taxes than the wealthy! The American
middle class population is diminishing.
My father said he will not be alive to see there will only be two classes of people, the RICH and the poor. How shameful can this be? This Country whose philosophy is based on Christian values does not live up to the Christian Gospel to help sustain the poor and instead, takes from those who help pocket the RICH (The Middle Class). You have CEO's and high executive officers who continue to rip off investors and getting caught embezzling money from employee's 401K plans. Why should the American people bail out Wall Street, banks and insurance companies who continue to get caught even after this bail out package was passed? Than you have AIG who is under investigation for spending US$440,000 on a conference at a California resort less than a week after US$85-billion government takeover, lawmakers said. Mr. Waxman led questioning Tuesday of former AIG chief executives Martin Sullivan and Robert Willumstad as Congress probes events that led to federal intervention. "Average Americans are suffering economically," Mr. Waxman, a California Democrat, said in his opening statement. "Yet less than one week after the taxpayers rescued AIG, company executives could be found wining and dining at one of the most exclusive resorts in the nation." What is this all about? This is another good example Corporations like AIG cannot be trusted after receiving help from the American people! Like the old saying says: "Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice shame on me"! The question: Is our government truly looking after the interest of the American people or after special interest?

"Sarah Palin is not the only loose cannon in the McCain camp". You
have these fools who speak out at the Republican conventions
stating: "I am angry...I don't want those socialist running this
country" You pretty much new what he was insinuating and who he was
attacking and profiling. This guy made himself look like a fool in
the eyes of the world. Socialism is based on "Public Collective
ownership or control of the basic means of production,
distribution, and exchange, with the avowed aim of operating for
use rather than for profit, and of assuring to each member of
society an equitable share of goods, services, and welfare
benefits". Now I interpret and understand this to be what society
calls a Free Enterprise which is tied to small and BIG businesses
as well as programs that support all the American people in time of
NEED! This would include the man who spoke out against Obama or
anyone else who does not support Obama's candidacy. So let's strip
away these benefits from those who claim to be against Free
Enterprise and social programs that were founded on Christian
values according to the remaining definition of socialism. I
understand desperate time calls for desperate means no matter what
it takes to desecrate ones character or party affiliation because
the other party is behind and jealous of Obama who expresses a form
of dignity and concern for the American people. The woman who spoke
out at the Republican Convention attacking Obama saying: "Obama is
an Arab". This is not a matter in being misinformed. The woman is
downright racists! To make a statement like that not knowing who
Obama really is indicates this woman is a person who is arrogant
and out of touch with reality! This kind of bigotry and haltered is
inexcusable and should not be tolerated. I have come across a lot
of these extreme Republicans who are not Republicans based on the
standards of there party but only conditioned with the intention to
bring harm to others and show no confliction to there cause. A good
example is what was seen at the Republican Conventions. Note: The
people at the Democratic Conventions so far have expressed
civilized unity and a joined party for the common good!

Was I dreaming this morning or did I hear a report the Russia was
moving into the Caribbean for a navel exercise? Did I also hear
something recently about the trading in the last hours of the NYSE
was looking funny? I even heard the words "financial
terrorism."...Hello? Anybody out there who has a bit of concern??
Financial terrorism will take months to figure out. Russia doing exercises in the Caribbean makes me uneasy. Obviously we are hurting. Terrorists all over are probably celebrating. You can bet they want to hit us while we are down. I also believe Russia will leap at any opportunity. Who would you want at the helm if there is a country out there that decides to jump on our current state of distress? There is only one choice! I firmly believe you cannot be the Commander and Chief of one of the Worlds greatest Military power if you have never even served in it! We need someone who can get us through what is coming (and yes I believe this is the VERY beginning). Senator Obama is too green for a real crises, and I feel we have one coming...much bigger than we are anticipating now. When your enemy is down....that is the time to strike. I think that is coming! Be smart in your choice this November. This is no time to mess around. McCain is the only logical choice, given our current state of affairs. There is no doubt in my mind that Russia will begin to flex power and be opportunistic, as will our other enemies. This is no time for a Senator from Illinois who has spent less than 200 active days in the Senate, to be in control of our Government and policies!! Wake up America!!!

What is the difference between a 50 mile ban on drilling and an
outright ban, Nothing. Obama claimed 68 million acres in oil leased
land, to bad less then 2% of this land has one drop of oil under
it!! Another trivial fact, congress stripped the States of their
share of royalty monies! So no money to build a pipeline even if
the oil companies drill a 10 MILLION dollar oil well! Thank You
Democratic party!

People 1st and foremost DONT PANIC!!! I can't stress that enough
those who panic often make a crisis worse by ranting about or
obsessing over who is right and who is wrong for one thing yes
facts are important but more importantly we need someone who knows
how to absolutly fix the economy instead of just talking about the
issue. Even though I support Obama of many of the issues I am
interested in why people support McCain; a man in my view who is
clearly more of a soilder than a beauracrat in Washington. I'm why
else would the man even mention serving in Vietnam, besides a
political move to prove that he is a patriot-it almost leads me to
conclude that he would run the country like the military with such
things as mandatory service (the draft) for a solution to solve the
well know job scare. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that
McCain and Palin are just riling up there supporters to fear Obama
as if he was some demonic entity, and with fear comes anger, and
anger turns to hate-the kind of force that divides a nation that
has withstood over 200 years of turmoil from a depression to world
wars. Even Abraham Lincoln said famously, "A house divided against
itself cannot stand,"
and if these bitter feelings continue what will America have to endure once m |
