Sometimes the little things make a big difference »

We updated the iReport system this morning to make some changes you can see and some changes you can't see. First, you will notice some changes in terminology we use on a couple of pages:

  • The "Flag for Review" link on comments and stories is now labeled "Report Violation." We wanted to make sure users understand we are counting on them to help alert us to problem posts.
  • When new stories are still being processed by our servers we have changed the label you see while you wait to read "Uploading." Just a little more accurate description of the processing that is happening between the time you click submit and the time the story shows up on iReport.
  • When you are viewing an iReport story you will now see a line above the comments that tells you which assignment the story was posted to. This was added based on feedback from the community (yes, we are paying attention to all those comments!).

Under the covers we are continuing to make changes aimed at making the site more responsive. This time you should see faster loading on the "My Stuff" page and on the list views for specific tags. We also made changes to retry uploads several times automatically if minor errors occur on the first attempt.

What do think? Let us know in the comments!

More in depth suggestions for video upload would be appeciated. I have mixed success. Sometimes it seems to depend on which browser I use. Other times, the problem appears to be on your server.

Pbethany, for 12 hours I tried to post my end of the week gas rates. Finaly I got 4 out of 6 posted. And as of this
post,3 out of 4 are up, but the 4 is dragging, and its not on the latest ireport page. Something is wrong. We have expierenced this all week. Any posting with more than 2 pics arent going up, and if they do not all of the pics are posted. Thanx, Slick Nick

I have noticed that a lot of companies are using this site to advertise their products. This is not why I joined I Report. Please make them stop.

BAILOUT for the BIG 3 AUTO COMPANIES: An Idea for alternate funding of their needed big bail out capital:
Please contact your Congressional Representatives, asking them to contact all of the BIG OIL COMPANIES and ask each one to donate 1 billion U.S. dollars to the Big 3 Auto Companies: then ask the 100 most wealthy banks in the USA still posting huge earnings each year that they can donate 2 million U.S. dollars to the Big 3 Auto Companies (they certainly have a reason to help: all of the interest they earn on every customer's CAR LOANS during each and every year). This would help the U.S. Government get lots of capital to give to the Big 3 Auto Companies from Companies that earn so much in profits every month from users of their automobiles across the country and beyond -- and it would save TAXPAYING CITIZENTS from having to participate again in a BIG HUGE BAILOUT. Sincerely submitted, Gerald Corey, (U.S. Citizen) Ottawa, Canada

Hey, T. J. Holmes: As for the Los Angeles lady with the resume on her chest -- Why wasn't she identified? What kind of job does she want? Was she shot to make us laugh?

Everyone else in the story was identified but her. Everyone else had their professions or something identified about them.

Tell your editor: if you videotape, why not talk to the lady? She's not walking around like that for her health or for our amusement. Finding out more would have been very interesting.

Thanks,

Rabaka

Thanks.
