Jenny McCarthy, Get a CLUE.

Jenny McCarthy, you told America to ask any autism parent if they would rather have autism or measles or flu (or any other disease we have vaccinations for, by implication).

Well, I am an autism parent. My Joey was diagnosed with autism at age 2 1/2, but we now know he was born with autism.

Guess what? I'd take autism any day of the week, and twice on Sundays, over measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, influenza, meningitis... or even, truth to tell, the common cold.

As you can see from our photos, Joey loves living, and participates in life. He is doing excellently in school. Challenges remain, but we see a bright future for our son as he learns to cope in a world that is not tolerant of those who think, feel, and experience the world differently.

What did we do? We acted the minute we suspected a problem. Joey went to school at 2 1/2, and had an excellent, caring teacher. We got him speech therapy and occupational therapy. We got him as much ABA therapy as we could afford. This combination worked very well for Joey.

He's never had signs or tested positive for toxins, never had stomach issues, never had anything these biomed therapies are supposed to address. They don't work for everybody, Ms. McCarthy. Effective teaching and therapies seems to improve every child I meet who use them.

I have yet to meet a child who has been "cured." Even if Joey started speaking flawlessly tomorrow, he would remain autistic- he would still experience the world, connect with it, understand it in a way that is "off the beaten track."

And certainly I wold prefer my happy, beautiful, thoughtful child to a dead one. Measles kills, Ms. McCarthy.

Folks, get your children vaccinated. Vaccination saves lives.
