Yong He, Taipei, Taiwan // embed media
These camera phone pics were taken during Typhoon Jang-Mi clean up in Yong He, Taipei, Taiwan. A park was created by the city of Yong He as a flood buffer between the Xindian River and the city. Interspersed are some peoples' efforts to maintain small gardens to sell goods at local street markets. The swelling of the river made the lightpoles in this park catchers of the river's debris and bent them at their bases down the entire walking path. One can see the mud and water still inside the lamps from having been submerged underwater during the high current. In one picture, the damage to one of the improvised gardens can be seen.
