False Steve Jobs Report Not CNN's Fault
October 4, 2008 | Oakland, California | Vetting explained
Just two days ago an iReporters created a video that reported
news that Apple CEO Steve Jobs had a heart attack. The result was a
drop in Apple's stock price before the iReport team got wind of the
news that the video's report was false.
They took it down 20 minutes later.
For
some reason, some want to blame CNN for this situation. CNN's not at
fault because the video was never tagged for official use by CNN.
iReport welcomes a lively discussion, so comments on iReports are not pre-screened before they post. See the iReport community guidelines for details about content that is not welcome on iReport.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
