Lord of the flies?
October 14, 2008 | Vetting explained
In these hard economic times it's comforting to know that Americans will somehow manage to survive. Of course we may devolve into a society of hunter-gatherers who prey on the weak and devour their young but in the long run we always manage to overcome adversity. The American dream is not dead, it's just in an induced coma waiting for the cure to its ills to be found. Remember it's always darkest before the storm, or is that dawn?

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
