University of Central Arkansas Shooting
October 27, 2008 | Conway, Arkansas | Vetting explained
I'm a student at UCA and the campus is on lockdown. Everyone is in their residence halls, and we have been asked not to leave our buildings. Parents can come pick their children up if they choose, but as of now we are being asked to stay put and wait for further instructions. 3 shot, 1 dead, 2 seriously injured, 4 suspects, 1 in custody.
UPDATE: There is an unnofficial report that 3 more have been killed around the same time in an off-campus app.
UPDATE: All classes for Monday October 27 have been cancelled.
UPDATE: There has been another confirmed death from the original on-campus shooting.
Monday, October 27
Today is by far the weirdest day of my life. None of us are sure how to feel, we have never been this close to death before. This kind of thing never happens in real-life, only in the movies or on the news. But when it's you, when it happened less than a block from where you sleep at night, it suddenly becomes real. We are all extremely saddened that two of our UCA brethren have been taken from us, but I don't believe that any of us could even begin to fathom the pain that those two families our feeling. It's just another reminder of how fragile our lives are, and how we should take advantage of every day that we have on this earth. To the Henderson and Block families just know that everyone at UCA is praying for you; we will never forget.
UPDATE: I have made another iReport entitled "University of Arkansas in Mourning"
