The price of food
April 21, 2008 | Saint Charles, Missouri | Vetting explained
We are all well aware of the skyrocketing price of food in the last year. However, does the average person know that food stamps have not increased one cent in the previous 12 months? Those of us who are already living on the edge of survival are getting no help from the government. In fact, despite the terrible economy and the recession we are experiencing, the automatic cost of living increase for my disability check this year was the lowest percentage in the last decade or more! The US government has turned away from the poor in the time of greatest need.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
