the U Street, cultural home of Washington D.C.'s African-American community is the setting for the biggest impromptu street party following Obama's victory that DC has seen in a while! Duke Ellington's boyhood home is down the street and the Lincoln Theatre and Bohemian Caverns where jazz lumnaries played, have been restored. The Ethiopian community has also set up shop here, and historic Howard Univeristy is blocks away. U streeet, today, is home to thousands of people of all races, who believe that diversity is something to be celebrated.
