Photos from North Pole Middle School in Alaska, where students were in "code yellow" lockdown from approximately 1:20 pm through 5 pm. Wednesday.  The school was surrounded by officials after the threat, and dogs brought in to search all parts of the school.  Student Corrina Deng was relieved to finally be allowed out of the school and states there was little fear expressed by other students, the majority of who were simply bored by having to sit in the cramped gym for hours while the school was secured.

Concerned parents gathered outside the school were warned to stay back by state troopers and police officers. A number of parents expressed deep concern that students were being held inside of the school with the possibility of a bomb inside instead of evacuated to a safer place. One official spoke with parents in an attempt to alleviate their fears, but a number remained upset after being told an evacuation under the circumstances would be too chaotic. Some parents feel having their children locked down in a school with a possible bomb inside isn't the most rational way to keep kids safe and plan to take complaints to the school in hopes that such situations will be handled in a different manner in the future.
