Where is James Bond?

So I went to see Quantum of Solace. Appearantly, it is supposed to a James Bond movie. But there were no gadgets, there was no womanizing, there was nothing that even suggested that this was a James Bond movie, except the fact that they called the main character James Bond. I understand that movies keep changing with time. They change in style, in dialogue, in fashion, in editing, in character presentation, and in the type of reality they are placed in. But making a James Bond movie without the gadgets, without the charm and elegance of Bond, without the interest in women, and without him ever introducing himself with 'My name is Bond, James Bond" is like making a Superman movie about a Superman who doesn't fly and doesn't wear his costume and works as a janitor. Bond movies are also about the locations which didn't get a chance to be appreciated in this one because of the insanely fast editing. Everything about this Bond was simply wrong. He hardly ever spoke and he drank beer (!) in a bar scene. Seriously? 'They' stripped Bond of all the qualities and characteristics he has been known and loved for. Don't get me wrong, I thought the film was an entertaining action movie, but it was definitely not a James Bond movie. It was about a guy who is on a mad rampage constantly killing people and it was because of this that he was almost not likable. It is impossible not to compare this film with the Bourne movies, because so many elements were taken straight out of those films. Just like this Bond, Bourne has no humor, no double-meaning or sexual undertones in his lines, he is cold and brutal and kills everything in his path. I am not saying to bring back the invisible car from a Pierce Brosnan Bond and to have the villain start petting a white furry cat in his underwater mansion, but PLEASE give Bond his 'Bond' back. Bond wore hats in his first few movies and he used to throw them onto the coat hanger when ever he entered Miss Moneypenny's office. It was his signature move and that is how Moneypenny always new that 'James' was about to enter. But hats went out of style and Bond stopped wearing them. Understandable! But did Moneypenny go out of style too? What happened? Who gave this a green light? I hope 'they' will make a real James Bond movie again one day.
