Did You Know

With all their experience, education, and intelligence none of the so called experts know the answer to the economic crisis. Well here is a thought they might want to consider.
The people in charge must stop thinking about their own portfolios, and remember that without JOBS, millions of Americans can not put money into a savings or checking account, can not pay mortgages or credit card bills, and can not buy any product or service. You can't buy a two dollar candy bar for a dime, if you don't have the dime. Lowering interest rates and bailing out the banks is useless when the American people are broke. Unless the experts figuar this out soon, a world wide depression may be inevitable.
Our banks, businesses, and government all suffer when the working class are out of work. But those in charge have no idea of what is really going on in this country. "There is a lack of consumer confidence", this is how they describe the failure of the bailout to help the economy. Well it is real hard to have a lot of confidence when you personally know a dozen people who have lost their jobs and you are worried about losing your own. The unemployment rate numbers do not even come close to showing the actual amount of people in this country who are out of work.
The truth is that this crisis did not happen over night. It started years ago when CEOs figured out that they could increase their profits by farming out jobs to cheaper foreign labor. Slowly this trend spread, and more companies followed suit. At first the economy did well with smaller businesses being born from the cheaper prices of merchandise, and new jobs were created in the shipping, and the import and export industry.
The foreign markets then starting to profit from American dollars and they were able to increase their own production and development of new products. Of course Americans were happy because this competition kept prices low, and there was an unlimited supply of new items coming out all the time. Only it was often the foreign made items that had the lowest price, so Americans bought those items.
As the foreign markets grew stronger, American companies started to feel the pinch. Desperate to stay competitive, they began to close more of their plants here and reopen them in Mexico and other countries that offered cheaper labor and operating expenses. But they didn't stop there. They also began sending other jobs related to the customer service and the marketing aspects of their businesses to these countries. Then with the advance of communication and internet services these companies could run with only a minimal of American workers in their employment.
Greed had taken hold and the rich CEOs and wealthy stock holders said we want more. There was no such thing as rich enough, and the war was on. It was no longer about providing a service. It was now all about the dividends, the bonuses, and the lifestyle.
Mean while, more and more Americans were losing their jobs, and they were no longer buying merchandise or services, which hurt small businesses. Without an income, the unemployed resorted to using their savings to pay their bills. When their savings ran out, they stopped paying their credit card bills and house mortgages, and that hurt the banks. The banks foreclosed on their houses, and with so many people out of work there was no one that could afford to buy those houses, and that hurt the real estate market. This ripple continued to spread to the rest of the world. And on an on it goes, until we get to where we are today.
The only way the economy will come back is for American companies to stop cutting jobs in the US and start creating jobs. As America goes, so goes the world. The top dogs will have to agree to take a little less in profits, for the survival of the pack. Close some of those foreign plants and open them back up here in America and our economy will pick up again.
If corporate America will not save us by supplying jobs here at home, then it will be up to the working class to save this country. We will have to take a stand, and refuse to buy anything not made in our own country. If enough Americans start buying only U.S.A. made products we can grow strong again. Our money will be going to help our neighbors and our country instead of to the greed of Corporate America and to the foreign markets.
Let Americans work and you renew their dignity and their confidence.
