Groceries and shoppers alike have somehow changed in anticipation
for Christmas here in the Philippines.
Upon my visit to the nearest grocery, shoppers have started
buying Christmas food and the grocery owners made measures that
stocks are readily available for the shoppers. Prices vary
depending on the sizes and brand so everyone will be able to afford
regardless of social status.
Popular Christmas food would be the 'Queso de Bola' or cheese
ball, 'hamon' or ham and ingredients to make fruit salad. Christmas
decor is also out for, all shapes and sizes.
Though shoppers now are more meticulous in buying their
goods, they check out what country it came from, it makes them
choose goods with better quality. As for decors, if it involves
lights, it is highly discouraged to buy cheap Christmas lights from
China because of the poor materials used that is prone to fire.
Even toys are checked by buyers as to its origin to avoid
countries known using paint with lead. Even if that was corrected,
it wont hurt to avoid those for now.
Food is also checked for its origin because of the recent
melamine scare, trying to avoid those food and brands made in
countries guilty of using melamine.
There are always cheaper alternatives to everything that can
be bought but buyers need to weigh if they are compromise quality
for cost.
With the different factors in buying, people still flock shop
to make their Christmas brighter in spite of any scare or economic
situation.
