The Daniel Oduber International Airport located in Liberia, Guanacaste, has experienced quite the demand in just 5 years. The northern region's increasing popularity among businessmen and tourists as well, has forced domestic airlines to increase their flight frequencies from San Jose to Guanacaste.
*Taca Airlines*' regional company, Sansa, has recently inaugurated a new flight itinerary as well as a new aircraft for its San Jose - Liberia route in Costa Rica. The addition of its ATR-42, is a twin-turboprop short haul regional airliner widely used by several airline companies from around the globe, is proof of one of the many changes being implemented by local transportation companies.
*Sansa*'s ATR-42 has a seating capacity of 46 passengers and will serve one of the 4 daily frequencies. The aircraft has received the flight number 720 from San Jose to Liberia and 721 from Liberia to San Jose. The flight departs from San Jose at 12:10pm and returns at 3:45pm from Liberia to San Jose.
At just 40 minutes from the Liberia Airport is one of the most visited national parks in the Guanacaste region. The Rincon de la Vieja National Park is home to several volcanoes; however, the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is the most important of them all. The Rincon de la Vieja National Park offers its visitors a number of trails and volcanic activities to keep you busy for an entire day.
