Spontaneous SL Wedding Joy
November 25, 2008 | Vetting explained
Well there I was sitting in on the CNN ireport meeting in SL and we were talking about Second Life weddings among other things. Suddenly I got a message from a friend saying that two of our friends were getting married in the Murray region. I made my apologies to the meeting and headed over to see them marry.
There is a big group of avatar pals who meet up in Murray and I am one of them. Two of the crowd Stefanos Barzane and Rubi Hawker started off as friends in the group and gradually it has turned into a love match in both SL and real life. Stef always said he wanted to get married in Murray, as it is a special place to all of us, it's where we all arrived from Help Island, so it was our first home. Rubi and Stef had set no proper date for the SL wedding and it was spontaneous tonight, they just suddenly invited everyone and friend Tah Rubble took the ceremony for them. Luckily most of the Murray crowd were on line and able to turn up at such short notice. Neznor Mielziner was dressed as a bridesmaid and looked really sweet. Stef looked very handsome in his suit and Rubi looked out of this world in her long white dress, so beautiful!!
Unfortunately I only had my work clothes on and did not get time to change, but most of the crowd looked really well dressed and Ruskin Thor handed us a red rose buttonhole to wear. Because this is Second Life anything can be arranged quickly and just after the wedding someone installed a dance floor in Murray and the celebrations continued. I wish them a happy future, they have known each other for quite a while now, and they are lovely people.
Stef lives in England in real life and Rubi is American. Rubi came over to England to see Stef a few weeks ago and they really had a lovely time and got on so well. I have no crystal ball and cannot tell you any more, but if this turns into a real life wedding I will let you all know!!!
