2007 photo: Taj Palace, Mumbai
November 26, 2008 | Vetting explained
Thought maybe you could use a pic showing Taj Palace Hotel. Note that it fronts on the Bay of Mumbai (Indian Ocean). Fire on TV would be at left rear of my photo.
To the right, behind the ferry and the Gate of India, is the Tower Wing of the hotel. If hostages are on the 18th floor, they'd be up there.
Photo taken early Oct 2007, from a similar ferry, during my stay in the Taj (one of the water-view rooms).
Do you know the story of this hotel? Around 1904, a wealthy Indian tycoon was denied admission to the posh whites-only hotel in Mumbai. So he built his own. The competition fell into disuse and was torn down some decades ago.
I'm an old fogey with only one land line phone which I keep dialed up to the internet. If you need to contact me, send an email with phone number for me to call you.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
