Poll respondenets believe Obama will be successful, that he should put Republicans in his cabinet . Republicans want more conservative leaders and Democrats want moderates, says the Pew Research Center.

That means Palin as a conservative will be favored in 2012, and Obama's moderate choices for cabinet are right on target, says Transition Watch of the Pew organization.

As Barack Obama prepares to take office, two-thirds of voters think he will have a successful first term in office while just 22% say they think he will be unsuccessful in his first four years. At the same time, six-in-ten voters say the president-elect should appoint Republicans to serve in important positions in his administration, compared with 35% who say it doesn't matter. Meanwhile, Republican and Republican leaners say that GOP leaders in Washington should move the party in a more conservative direction. By contrast, 57% of Democrats and Democratic leaners think their party should move in a more moderate direction.
