Illness and Lost Job
December 7, 2008 | Abington, Massachusetts | Vetting explained
I have been hospitalized four times in the last year for Bipolar 1. At first my company was understanding, but slowly they became impatient. I was on short and long term disability and did work for a brief period of time.
This past September I had just come off my last hospital stay and my company wanted more proof from doctors and the facility I was at. At the same time they were conducting a investigation of my employment history. they gave me several reasons as to why they felt I should lose my job. I was backed into a corner, I never performed badly, never a had any type of corrective action and ran stores successfully for them. Given the fact I new they were planning to terminate me I resigned and now am facing bankruptcy.
