iReport —
Kenyan artists are making their debut into the world of animation in a big way! Recently, a one day digital animation seminar, sponsored by the Kenya Film Commission, was held in Nairobi-Kenya. The seminar showcased work from the vast array of animation talent in Kenya. There were presentations from Kenyan concept artists, 2D & 3D animators, as well as local video-game developers. This seminar was the first in a series of events purposed towards acting as a catalyst for growth of the Kenyan animation industry in 2009. In 2008, the Kenyan animation industry and talent received validation through the commissioning of a 52 episode animated kids TV series titled "The Tinga Tinga Tales". This series is co-financed by Disney and BBC, and is one of the largest out-source commissions for an Animated Kids series in Africa to date. A website has been setup to offer more information and promote Kenya's emerging animation arts and artistes: www.kenyan-animation.com
