Ability in Disability
December 15, 2008 | Lagos, Nigeria | Vetting explained
Mcestus Adesina Oshinowo was not born deformed; he is a victim of an overdose of polio vaccine which was given to him at a tender age of 2 in his birthplace Kaduna, Nigeria. Despite his predicament, he has never for once seen himself as physically challenged.
Mark who hails from Ogun state went in search of a job to keep body and soul together after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) at Ife, where he studied Economics. He gave up on the job search after a lot of "we will see you later" phrase and he immediately took to art which he had always had a flair for.
He is happily married to his heartthrob and they are blessed with a male child. In a country where any form of disability is seen as an avenue to turn into begging for alms on the streets, Mcestus Adesina Oshinowo has been able to develop himself over time and was able to channel his energy towards artwork.
His talent as far as artwork is concern is unrivalled as he has done a lot of sketches and carvings, some of which includes beautifully handcrafted chess pieces but to mention a few.
Mcestus Adesina Oshinowo is an embodiment of talent waiting to explode. He is obviously a pure case of "ability in disabilty" but the irony of the whole situation is that mark doesn't even have a single sponsor in other to make his dream a reality.
