iReport —

While visiting Florida, I saw my cousin and he is in the picture with me, on the right.

About 30 years ago in July, I met Eartha Kitt, I did not know who she was and I was bored and I was having lunch alone at a Resort in Western Michigan at a place called the Douglas Dunes, and she came by and asked if she could sit with me and I said sure that would be nice, it had been a difficult day and I would enjoy sharing time with her. We just talked in general and she even offered to pay for my food and I told her, no thanks, I would be glad to pay and I did. We told each other bye and that was in. Later that evening, I went to the Bar at the Hotel for the evening entertainment and to my surprise there was the lady from Lunch, I did not know her name and it was Eartha Kitt, up on stage singing. After her songs, she came to my table and said hi, I am Eartha Kitt and I did not get your name during lunch can I sit and have a drink with you and your friend. I said sure and that evening with the First time I had heard of Eartha Kitt and since I have seen her in movies and a few plays and on TV. Wow, it was so sad to hear of her death, she was so nice to me and now I feel bad, I did not keep in touch with her after she gave me her business card, I should of wrote to her, but I did not. She was sure a wonderful actress and Singer. I remember,  she would shake hands, she would stand tall while saying her name with such pride and her hands were so warm and when she would give me a kiss, the red lipstick was so bright and would stay on for a while. She was one of a kind and a wonderful person. I will never forget her.
