Christian Lowery
January 4, 2009 | Columbus, Georgia | Vetting explained
Christian was born 12 years ago today with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). He sadly passed on September 15, 2008. Christian was born with a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. He was diagnosed at 21 days old and was given a life expectancy of only 15 years. He lived for 11 years with most being in hospitals. Christian grew accostomed to hospital life and spent many holidays in the hospital rooms. He loved his doctors (Dr. Marc Oliver and Dr. Thomas Ellison) and had his two favorite nurses (Christi Womack and Jennifer Martin). We are grateful that these wonderful caregivers were able to attend his funeral. Christian loved his short life.
I would not wish the death of a child on anyone. I truly feel the pain and heartache that each and every parent feels. I do get sickened when I am told " I know how you feel" and "he is in a better place". I have the right to grieve for as long as I want. Parents of a child of any age have that right. I can only hope that things get easier and that peace follows all of the families that have lost a child. I have personally found a small amount of peace with online support groups. I wish much peace to the families.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
