iReport —
This artwork was created in reaction to the recent and ongoing global financial bailout. It is a mosaic image of the entire planet, composed of tens of thousands of tiny pieces of chopped coins. The analogy of money being spread far and wide gives way to imagery of flowing blood spilled from a giant gash that runs from the Federal Reserve to the Bank of England. The wound is sutured shut with, of course, more money. I consider this type of work to be counter-inflationary from the ground up, as a trivial amount of coins are transformed into expensive art. I hope this artwork might help people of the future to remember a significantly catastrophic period in history when people let money domineer their actions.
