THOUSANDS EXPECTED TO JOIN TOGETHER AT AUTISM SPEAKS' 5th ANNUAL CHICAGO WALK NOW FOR AUTISM ON MAY 18 --Increasing Awareness and Raising Funds to Support Research into the Nation's Fastest-Growing Developmental Disorder - Thousands of walkers - including individuals with autism, their families and friends - are expected to join together to raise much-needed funds for critical scientific research and to increase awareness about a growing health crisis that now affects 1 in every 150 children at Autism Speaks' 5th Annual Chicago Walk Now for Autism on Sunday, May 18, at Soldier Field. All proceeds from the event benefit Autism Speaks, the nation's leading autism advocacy organization.

Last year's event raised more than $1.6 million with more than 1,015 teams. This year's goal is to break $2 million.

"Walk Now for Autism" is a unique fundraising event which creates a safe and fun day for families who are affected with autism. The day includes a 2 to 3 mile walk and Community Resource fair with educational sources, therapists, schools, recreational organizations, and creative child-friendly activities; a true "one-stop-shop" for families affected by autism.
Toys "R" Us, Toys "R" Us Children's Fund, Parade Magazine and Chevrolet proudly serve as national sponsors of the Autism Speaks "Walk Now for Autism" program.

Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person's ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by extreme behavioral challenges. Another child is diagnosed every 20 minutes.

There are over 30,000 families already giving data, and the more data the more accurate and quicker the solutions for all affected children, adults, and families! It took me a little time to enter the large amount of historical data, BUT WELL WORTH IT!!! THIS IS ONE OF OUR BEST HOPES AT THE MOMENT TO FIND ANSWERS and "Best Practices" to treat all of our kids and the growing number of adults who struggle and want care and help. PLEASE take the time to participate and SPREAD THE WORD!!! THANKS FROM ALL FAMILIES BATTLING ISSUES CAUSED BY AUTISM!

What is the IAN Project?
IAN, the Interactive Autism Network, is an innovative online project designed to accelerate the pace of autism research by linking researchers and families. Anyone impacted by an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can become part of IAN's online community to stay informed about autism research, provide feedback, and make their voices heard.
In addition, families of children with an ASD can share information in a secure online setting and become part of the nation's largest online research effort . As a result, researchers will obtain valuable data, explain findings, and collaborate with families and one another. This dynamic exchange could lead to new discoveries about causes, diagnosis, treatments, and a possible cure for this puzzling group of disorders.
