Will you make a pledge to say no to Nuclear Power and lead us to a renewable future?
May 9, 2008 | Louisville, Kentucky | Vetting explained
Senator Obama,
You wax poetically about change and not doing politics as usual. Does this mean you are separating your self from nuclear power corporate interests?
As you might realize a free nation like the U.S. with nuclear power plants dotted all over the landscape would be for a terrorist being a child in a candy store. We would have to harden and secure these sites from terrorists. We would have to secure the entire nuclear fuel cycle as well? Why do we need to go down this pitiful anti-American path so we can maintain centralized power distribution?
The future is in distributed power. Why do you support an inefficient and inappropriate technology such as nuclear power? Government at all levels should be supporting solutions to problems by appropriate means. Any other would be wasteful and taking unnecessary risks. Don't you agree that 2000 degrees of heat is a bit much to create steam?
What about all the radioactive isotopes that go into the air and water discharges around a nuclear plant? Is that the price the average American have to pay so we can receive no carbon emissions and particulate matter in the air for power generation? Do you see any wealthy persons living near such a plant?
Senator Obama what nation or civilization has been stable and lasted long enough to protect the waste from intrusion and for leaking contamination concerns? So why do you want to go down a one way street that has a dead-end?
Ever hear of Vertrigro? A company claiming to be able to create enough algae for biofuels to meet out transportation needs! Their techological solution solves all kinds of problems. Why aren't you investigating it?
What about fuel cells in every one's home? Electric power transmission is very wasteful (about 30% efficient) on so many levels (quality, inefficient, ecologically), where distributed power makes the end user much more accountable receiving much higher quality of power which is closer to 80 percent efficient.
So Senator Obama are you going to take us into the brave promise of the future or are you going to lead us back to the past?
