Arkansas Ice Storm
January 28, 2009 | Ozark, Arkansas | Vetting explained
*Here are pictures from around the area of Western Arkansas.
Most of the pictures below were from Northern Johnson county and
Southern Newton County. Elevation played a big role in the amount of
Ice that was accumulated. Ice was even quite variable at the same
elevations at different locations. Most of the severe ice accumulations
(greater than 1/2 inch) were above about 1300 feet. Locations I visited
above 2000 feet had ice accumulations of at least 1 inch with isolated areas near 2 inches. At the locations with 2 inches - at least 90% of all trees were either down or had their tops broken off.*

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
