Fantasy Season comming up! Will the running backs be the key players this year??
Taking a break from the political debates I get myself into
in here lolol. So with fantasy comming up in a couple months, it's
time to start looking ahead and determining your draft strategy.
For the last few years, running backs have been the money
makers. They consistantly are soaked up in the first 2 rounds of
the fantasy draft. This year, however, I don't see that happening.
I won my league last year and I did it with consistant WR's,
decent, not perfect QB's, and got lucky on a TE. I thik this trend
will carry over to next year's season.
Last season we had some suprises, like Tom brady getting the
most fantasy points of any player. QB's are a dime a dozen. There
are always 31 starters, so while it's good to have a good one, they
usually don't start going until the 3rd and 4th round. And if you
do well on WR's and RB's, it really doesn't matter who your QB is.
I won last year with Ben Rothlesburger and Eli manning as my two
QBs.
So I think the RB's are no longer the money makers. I mean
hell yea, if you can get LT, and eterson, and Jackson.. do it,
don't hesitate. I just rememebr when the first 2 rounds were always
RB's, cause they would make or break you. Now a days, however, most
teams have gone to the 2 good backs sharing time, instead one one
back carrying the whole load. To me this is a trend in the NFL
right now, and eventually every team will need to have 2 good backs
to compete. I think that is where the RB position in the NFl is
heading to.
So the best team, in my opinion, will be who drafts the most
consistant WR's. Yes WR's are a dime a dozen. Each team starts at
least 2, even 3, so there are plenty to choose from. I just think
if you can get 3 starters, they are the most consistant players in
the fantasy world.
So here is my draft order for this year. it worked for me
last year.
**remember, yuo have to pay attention to the draft trends. If
everyone is pulling QB's the first 2 rounds, you may need to grab
one. Here is what works for me, every year..**
ROUND POS
1 RB
2 RB
3 WR
4 WR
5 WR
6 TE (or round 7)
7 QB (or round 6)
8 RB
9 WR
10 QB
11 WR
12 RB
then fill in a second player for TE, then get your defense
and kicker. Please don't take a defense in the first 5 rounds. I
love when someon in my league does that. Depending on your league's
point set up, there are plenty of defenses that can get consistant
points, and you can always pick up the un expected bloomers.
I am just worried about the RB's, but I don't think its to a
point where you can pass on one in the first round. I have never
seen anyone who has passed on a RB in the first round and take like
Peyton Manning or Steve smith, win the league. Just remember that.
QB's will be there. All QB's throw touch downs, and yards.
grab the top RB's and WR's you can in the first 5 rounds.. then
build around them.
Thats my strategy and it has done me well.. I always make
play offs and I have won 2 leagues in the 6 i have ever played
in...
There, finally off the political mess
GO DOLPHINS! we can't go anywhere but up!
