The folks at US Swimming need to take a chill pill !
February 7, 2009 | Alpharetta, Georgia | Vetting explained
OK seriously, the US Swimming Team needs to chill out and get a grip. I mean 3 mos. suspension b/c of smoking weed!?! Yea it's illegal, but at least its not a "performance enhancing" drug! If anything, its a "performance decreasing" drug.
Phelps is old enough to make his own personal decisions, although in this case I do think he demonstrated bad judgement. As an athlete (esp. a 8 gold medal winning athlete), you certainly don't want to engage in activities that might jeopardize and decrease your athletic performance.
But at any rate, he issued a sincere apology and the US Swimming team should have accepted it in my opinion and left it at that.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
