Beijing CCTV Annex on Fire
February 9, 2009 | Beijing, China | Vetting explained
The fire probably started around 8:45pm Beijing time, and escalated quickly engulfing the top storeys. An eye witness claimed that a firework landed on the roof of the building which started the fire.
The video was shot just after 9pm as emergency services beginning to arrive. The roads have yet to be cordoned off so traffic was still streaming past.
There was concern that the building, now burning totally out of control, may topple and hit the CCTV HQ with its debris causing a cascading effect.
