iReport —

Detroit muscle for sale...

I know for certain there are MANY other people who are worse off than I am, but here is my contribution.

Growing up in the early 70's, my Dad worked at a Chrysler dealership in Denver, Colorado, and would occasionally drive home demo-car's. He drove home in all kinds of different Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler cars. None of them really stood out until he drove home in a Plymouth 'Cuda. From that day forward I would not stop thinking about that car! Whether I was building models of it or drawing pictures of it, everything in my life kinda stopped when one drove by.

I always hoped I would have one, and after working hard for many years (and landing a new higher-paying job), I celebrated by buying my dream car. A 1972 Plymouth 'Cuda 340, at the end of 1999.

Now, nine-years later, and six month after being laid-off from the airline industry, my dream car will need to be sold.

I have always been a frugal guy, and have never lived a lavish lifestyle.  I live in a modest home, and I am current on my mortgage, and buy from craigslist whenever possible, but it is getting thin!

Again, I know I am so much more fortunate than others right now (after all, it IS just a car), but it still stings to have to part with one of my dreams through no real fault of my own.

Good luck to us all!!
