iReport —

Born in the early 50's the radio was still a big part of our lives . It was my parent's until you were allowed to change the channel .

The radio we had in the kitchen was a big one It sat at the back of the counter in theat in v place where the corners meet. It was a GE of course because Paul Harvey made it plain you should buy American made goods. We listened to him on vacation from school while we sat the table . We didn''t talk and there was always something new to learn . He enriched our young lives with his quiet warm voice that phrased words so well in my mind. Listening and imagining in your minds eye always led to to the "

Rest of the Story" which you could never guess and made you smile. RIP and Thank You for your

graciousness and warmth and being a part of my how I read what I read out loud to my daughter.

Good story telling was more common back then. To me it wasn't a radio program. It had all the comfort of a story being read at bedtime.Only it wasn't at bedtime . The lucky ones among us still have love of a good Paul Harvey story. It seems that after a while he vanished from my life.I went to Nursing School . I had so much to read and study, When I was done he was there again, this time on my first car's radio., He continued to accompany me until I lost him again only to glady find him still there.A wise voice through good times and bad.  I always heard him even though I never looked for him anymore . Most recently it seems like in the last  year or two, I heard that calm , clear voice after many years,I had long replaced him thing other things. I smiled and will always smile when I heard that voice.
