BUSY MOM, MILITARY WIFE, STUDENT...
March 2, 2009 | Fort Rucker, Alabama | Vetting explained
Most of these posts are long, but I am going to try to get my point across in as less words as possible :)
Parenting is one of the most demanding roles a person can take on & one that should not be entered into lightly.
Like most parents, I've been through my share of obstacles, and I'll share w/ you a few :)
*I had my 1st child while stationed in Germany 2 1 month after my unit (and husband) left for Iraq. I was completely alone & depressed, as that was not how I had pictured things lol
*4 months later, I was handing my bundle of joy over to my mom, to join my unit in Iraq :(
*My daughter came 2 months early, just as we'd gotten to our new duty station! She was immediately transferred to a hospital that was FOUR hours away!
*I had planned to go to school full-time once I got out the army. Instead I had to stay home w/ my daughter the first year. I wasn't deterred though. I simple enrolled in online/night classes full-time @ the local community college :)
*After only a year...I had my associates degree.
*Just when things are fine, it was time for my husband to leave for a 15 month deployment to Iraq!!!
*I can't even believe that he's been gone almost 10 months already, but since he's been gone I've maintained a 4.0 gpa AND I will be graduating in december w/ a b.s. in Broadcast Journalism/Public Relations :)
*I am 26, I have a 4 & 2 yr old, and I'm due with baby #3 in July (Thanks to an R&R visit lol)
Things are definitely busy in this household! But I've been able to maintain really well. I have a great schedule which I follow daily that allows me to have time for my school work, the kids and the volunteer work I do.
It can be hard doing it all on your own, while assuring your kids that daddy will be back, but hey...we all have to do what we have to do right?
I do A LOT! and there's really no need to list all those things, b/c lots of people do a lot. But I think that when you're doing things you love, it's worth it.
I plan on taking the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) in Oct. People often ask, how I plan to go to law school w/ 3 little ones...Well, I am one of those women who believe women and anybody for that matter, can do it all!
YOU are the only one who can set limitations on yourself :)
