Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler?
That's LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL if you're not familiar with the french saying signaling ...start the dang Mardi Gras!
Well, the good times rolled but the floats ......not quite ..LOL
The ambitious event (A Mardi Gras Parade in Second Life) had all the ingredients for a fantastic parade (See pictures). Several enthusiastic Krewes in fabulous costumes, beautiful floats, beads, heck .... even the zulu Obama coconut. So what happened? ....... Murphies law SL style.
The event planner (Shon Larsson of Sunburst Entertainment) was overwhelmed by the response. Add some Sim lag, lack of communication, failure of some Krewes to follow instructions, no dress rehearsal, locked permissions on floats and intoxicated and unconcious/awol Krewe members (the wait was excruciating so they partied their @zzes off). The venue was set up like New Orleans however, Mardi Gras Music was sorely missing in action.
Having said that, In retrospect .... it was the best d@mned attempt at an SL parade I have seen to date. Even though it may not have gone as planned ..... anticipation for next year is already starting and some Krewes are already makiing plans. I am anxious to find out..... who is eventually going to pull this off?
Thanks to all the following participants and sponsors for your time and efforts and hope to see you next year. I had a blast!!
