To AC360, an Outcry for justice!
March 5, 2009 | Oshkosh, Wisconsin | Vetting explained
Hi AC360 team,
My name is Tian Wei Ng. I am a Malaysian who is so frustrated and so sick to see what has been going on in Malaysia all these years. (I now reside in WI, working as an engineer, however will be taking a temporary job assignment to work in the facility in Malaysia starting April for 2 years).
The politics of Malaysia is in total chaos! Instead of fighting for a better economy in this hard time, the government just focuses their energy to fight against the democracy of the country, or the will of the citizens!
Basically we have this barbaric government who acts above the laws and the constitution of the country. The democracy in the country is totally ruined because of what the government has been doing to her citizens!
In this country, people are arrested because of them fighting for change. We have seen numerous detentions of the citizens because of them raising up their voices to fight against the incomprehensible, uncivilized actions of the incumbent administration.
There is no respect for democracy in this country. Based on the 2008 human rights report recently released by US Department of State, Malaysia is the top destination in the region for human trafficking. I am not sure if the government is shameful at all of her degrading reputation in this 21st century. (http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2008/eap/119046.htm)
In Malaysia, people have been complaining of the government’s abusing their power for political reasons. For instance, we have seen politicians, journalists, internet bloggers, civil rights activists being arrested and detained under the so called Internal Security Act that allows the government to detain someone without trial indefinitely. The detainment has been widely known to be political motivated to stop the opposition voices.
Not only that, there has been serious doubt on the independence and fairness of police, judicial and even anti-corruption system of the country.
Also, the freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom of press has been taken away from the people.
And very recently the central government overturned the opposition party’s control of a state government through the widely alleged bribery of the state representatives in which the bribery accusation involved millions and millions of dollars. Come on, every country in the world is fighting to save her ec-onomy, but we have this government right here in Malaysia who used the tax payers’ money for a shameful and undemocratic seize power action! The citizens have been calling for a fresh election so to elect the party they want to rule the state, but the central government just doesn’t allow it!
And worst of all, this country is going to have someone who has been accused of numerous corruption, including an explosive murder case of a Mongolian woman, to be the next prime minister of the country in this coming April. Though two police have been arrested, but there is a wide speculation that these two are the scapegoats to protect the real murderer(s).
Can you believe that?
In short, Malaysia has become one of the most corrupted and undemocratic government in the world!
Thankfully, we are going to have three by-elections in April because of the deaths and resignation of two state representatives.
I have made a video of myself, posted on youtube:

I just can't stand anymore on how the citizens are treated in Malaysia!
The purpose of my video is to call for everyone around the world to share their feelings of this pathetic government and if they have anything to tell the Malaysians. Then I was thinking to compile all video responses I receive into one video by the end of March, and show it to the whole world of what everyone of us can do to change Malaysia to make it a better place to live in!
If you want to know more about how dirty Malaysian government is, just go to the Youtube and type in Malaysia Politics, there are tons of videos there that can witness what I said is true.
Also, there is a great news website that uncovers many dirty politics in Malaysia. The website: www.malaysiakini.com. There are many videos showing how barbaric the central government is.

A few examples of must see videos:

A Malaysian Indian under police custody was found to be starved and beaten to death in the police station. However the chief police at first lied to the public on this real reason of the death. The first autopsy report didn't disclose the real reason. People were not satisfied with the reason given by the chief police and so called for the second autopsy and that's how all these uncovered.

The police used chemical laced water to disperse the crowd who gathered in front of a police station to lodge police reports to complain of the government delaying the medical treatment of a civil rights activist who was detained under the draconian Internal Security Act.

40,000 rally for free and fair elections and CNN coverage.
One of CNN's interviews with Anwar Ibrahim, the opposition party's leader who was accused of sodomy charges (twice) by the government related people. He was released from the first accusation due to the lack of evidence. While the second allegation surfaced last year however the allegation seemed too politicaly motivated. Anwar has been lodging reports to the government agency for the police heads faking evidence to accuse Anwar, however no action from the government AT ALL!
And many many more.....
The purpose of me sending this message to AC360 team is so that you guys can also take a look at what happens in Malaysia. You have been doing a great job on covering stories from Middle East and Africa, however there is this country on earth that deserves your attention too.
Can we have US intervene so to pressure Malaysia to return the democracy to her citizens?
Thank you.
Regards,
Tian
