SL's Award Winning HOSPITAL WITH A HEART
March 8, 2009 | M,Grande Allie (45,142,31), New York | Vetting explained
Visiting Second Life's 'DOVE OF LOVE' Family and Maternity Hospital was quite an experience. I popped in one day to have a peek. I thought ... interesting. After requesting an Interview, I met with the Owners and staff & got a full tour of their private areas (unseen by the general public until specific services are requested). I came to the conclusion .... this is more than a virtual building that someone had filled with virtual hospital furniture .....and I was right.
I tested the Owner with the question that often pops up concerning pregnancy in SL ...... "Why would someone get pregnant in the virtual world"? I already knew the answer; and she gave me the answer I expected from a sensitive woman : )
SERVICES
Where to begin? ......... There isn't much they don't offer and they do their research. This hospital has everything from Well Woman exams, birth control and counseling, pregnancy packages, labor and delivery, private birthing suites, Prenatal, postnatal, ultrasounds, Lamaze classes, well baby, well child, tonsilectomies, baby shower services, dentistry, eye exams and glasses, maternity clothes and get this ..... they even have a W.I.C. program for struggling mothers. The hospital also caters to the French, Dutch, Portuguese and Hispanic communities (although they admit that it may sometimes take a little more time to figure out exactly what the patient needs in those cases). I was blown away. The one thing they don't offer is abortions.
STAFF
The Dove's owners and staff welcome anyone and everyone who request their services (furries, fairies and vampires included) and they do so with the respect everyone desires but seems increasingly hard to find in the real world. This is serious business for the Dove Staff (listed at the bottom). They continue to enjoy a multicultural popularity due to their dedication and service to all who enter their establishment.
One of Dove's Owners, Rowanda Siimons, is a Real Life teacher with a big heart. A part of her drive and dedication to people can be directly attributed to the large family her mother raised, fostered and/or adopted. Her real life mother fostered over 100 children and adopted 6. Rowanda helped raise the adopted 6 children after her mother passed on. Rowanda loves people and it shows. .... she and hubby (Dr. Heartsdale) are expecting AGAIN. Did she say twins? omg! (well at least it's not 8 smh). Choyce Mostel, Rowanda's Office Director and daughter passes out on hearing the happy news....LOL. Rowanda Recently received the 2009 BBOSL Humanitarian award.
God bless you all!!
