American in Winnenden
March 11, 2009 | Winnenden, Germany | Vetting explained
I am an American and sing at the State Opera here in Stuttgart. I live about ten minutes from the school in Winnenden. I have two children who attend another school which is very close to the one in Winnenden. This morning, you're "breaking News" report came on my TV (we have CNN running 24/7) the first reports mentioned only that it was a school twenty miles outside of Stuttgart. You cannot imagine what went through my mind for the next 15 minutes.
I then found out my children were safe!
Here when you look into the eyes of people at the scene and around town, you see only fear and confusion. No one can understand how this happened in our community.
I couldn't take a photo. The one I upped is of me.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
