BOMB BLAST - COLOMBO
Today (16th of May) a powerful explosion has taken place in
Colombo, in the Fort area, in the very heart of Colombo. The
explosion has taken place in the close proximity to Lakehouse (state run newspaper corporation), at the Ceramic Junction, near Shri Sambuddhaloka Viharaya.
It is belived a suspected LTTE suicide carder has rammed a
bike ladened with explosives into a bus carrying Police personelle.
9 deaths are reported including 7 police personnel. A driver of government minister Gamini Lokuge is also among the dead.
Director General National Hospital Dr. Hector
Weerasinghe has said that around 90 people have been admitted to the National hospital which includes 62 civilians,
30 Police and 3 Army personnel.
