How does my garden grow??? Very well, thank you and thanks to USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service and East Piedmont Resource Conservation and Development Council....
I moved to Lake Murray, South Carolina in 1999, and within a month I noticed a 'spring' bubbling in the middle of my yard where my grandson and I had just planted a vegetable garden. You guessed it! It was my waste treament system - otherwise known as a septic system drain field overflowing and running down into the lake. Not good!!
A chance program on 'constructed wetlands' at a local Garden Club meeting...and after hearing my situation --what luck! My property was chosen to be used for a project to improve surface and subsurface water quality in the Lake Murray area. The system was installed in 2000, the 'spring' is gone, and the result--a beautiful GARDEN and functional waste treatment system! The plants used for my system - Canna Lilies and Rush...
LIFE IS GOOD!!
