Shuttle Spectacular
March 15, 2009 | St Pete Beach, Florida | Vetting explained
A - MAZING. You wouldn't think you would be able to see Discovery's liftoff on the other coast of Florida. But we in St Pete Beach watched another fabulous liftoff. The setting sun in the west sprayed its pinkish-orange brilliance directly onto the capsule and smoke that followed. Even though it was almost 160 miles away, the shuttle glowed beautifully as it propelled into space. Congratulations to our newest astronauts and all those NASA engineers and scientists.
