RICKY HATTON’S IMPERIAL REIGN CRUMBLING
March 30, 2009 | Vetting explained
The 45win-1loss-32KOs reigning International Boxing Organization’s (IBO’s) Junior Welterweight icon may think that he’s “too strong and too big for Manny Pacquiao,” but he’s absolutely not unbeatable! Come fight night, “Pacman” will completely crush Britain’s “Hit Man” from the inside before a crowd of various peoples mostly coming from the East and West, and Hatton’s defeat – whilst gripping – will surely be as bitter and mortifying as the downfall of a long-reigning empire.
Now known to be the toughest Englishman of boxing, Ricky Hatton, though, will be facing an amazingly clever fighter whose ultimate goal has always been much higher, ever more popular and much more dignified than sheer boxing sports. A faithful and humble servant of the poor who would be willing to do and risk everything to fulfill what he’s destined to become, Manny Pacquiao will again enter the boxing ring to fight with all his heart for the nation he truly loves. And the whole world will be watching the “People’s Champ” end the “Hit Man’s” imperial reign over Junior Welterweight on the eve of May 03, 2009 at the jam-packed MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Just like a 22-year-old political dynasty already teeming with damaging practices as corruption, betrayal, dissection, inefficiency, hypocrisy, and violence, all that Ricky Hatton could do, for now, is to helplessly wait for his D-day to happen. Ricky Hatton is obviously much bigger than Manny Pacquiao. He remains unbeaten in his division, while only his oddly fouled fighting tactics caused him to perpetuate as the undisputed Junior Welterweight emperor. But, one thing is certain: The current IBO Junior Welterweight royal ruler is doomed! The empire that was built with unclean hands is about to fall apart inevitably and no one else – not even Floyd Mayweather Sr. – can stop. Come “The Battle of East and West,” the world will behold the “People’s Champ” make another milestone for professional boxing and the Filipino nation.
When Manny was yet to fight Oscar De La Hoya back in 2008, barely anyone in the world had ever thought that he would badly batter the “Golden Boy” from tip to toe: except, for a few people who faithfully believe in the “People’s Champ” --- thinkers who deeply sacrificed with him during his mournful moments of pasting, remained loyal to him and his causes, and continue to help his crusade for progress and development in any little means they could as he goes on to reach to his ultimate destiny. They are the few influential young people who silently yearn and campaign for “change” to come to their hometown, which remains to have been unchanging, exceptionally for 22 years now. They plan to foster the “kind of change that shall completely end political feudalism” and bring about an “all-new body politic” that will actually, efficiently and effectively promote freedom and prosperity to their townsfolk. They terribly long for fresh, young, and capable leaders to honestly represent them in government because they no longer believe or listen any more to the unpromising litanies of an overstaying political dynasty. They represent the true voice of their town’s intelligentsia, which commands about 47% of the city’s actual voters. But these young powerful people won’t be going out to cast their ballots again come election -- just like what most of them did in the last three elections -- until they are able to find leaders who, truly, will represent the “change” they beseech.
Manny is sincere to these thinkers because he clearly can see and feel in them the virtues of honesty, fairness, decency, humility, and integrity in service. Manny Pacquiao is “People’s Champ” and - with them - he always will be, no matter what will happen. Their ideals continue to inspire “Pacman” to be unbeatable inside the boxing ring, to train hard, to pray fervently for God’s blessings, to dream of a peaceful and progressive future for his people, to do everything for God and country!
The city’s intelligentsia strongly believes in the “People’s Champ’s” sublime mission to be just as that of the “Spaniard” --- the general who became slave, the slave who became “Gladiator,” the gladiator who defied an emperor, the mob’s loyal servant who risked away everything including the only home and family he had, if only to accomplish a noble man’s last wish --- for him to make a dreading empire ruled with ruthlessness and greed become a “great republic” again. This is how tediously difficult it is to be “People’s Champ,” but there should never be any reason for Manny Pacquiao to worry or cower at all, because God never turns His back to those who seek to faithfully do His divine will.
And so, what else will make Ricky Hatton think he can beat the “People’s Champ?” He’s big but he surely isn’t strong enough to endure an 88-million-strong speedy combination of jabs, left-hooks and right-hooks, uppercuts, and body punches that “Pacman” will unleash right at him once the two boxing superstars get to clash inside the square ring. I guess, all that the “Hit Man” has is his big mouth and an old-fashioned loud-talking trainer who just couldn’t help the sluggish Briton hurdle the biggest fight of his life anymore. Perhaps, Ricky Hatton, on fight night at MGM Grand, will appear to be just another overly battered loser who once dreamed of conquering today’s greatest Filipino --- Manny Pacquiao.
Thereafter, a great feast will once more ensue in the country Manny holds dear. His coming home will be welcomed with great honor and pride by Filipinos, most especially, by the poor who count on him for help and perseverance. As usual, the “People’s Champ” will be giving away foods and cash and gifts to thousands of poor men, women and children around the country who are either sick, jobless or hungry, in thanksgiving for the countless blessings God has showered upon him.
Let the world know that Manny Pacquiao isn’t merely a sportsman in his own hometown. He is an acknowledged philanthropist, a respected peacemaker, and a staunch crusader for “change.” Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming match against Ricky Hatton will definitely set yet another breaking record in the history of professional boxing. At the same time, this big event will most likely be the beginning of Manny’s giant leap towards “changing the unchanged.”
God bless you Manny!
