The taxi stops suddenly; at once all sirens, horns blare at once. Whole city cries for silence. Heart racing, waiting. People stand at attention facing the street, each other, the sky. A moment of silence. No one knows who to believe, warning issued last night predicts another quake today, radio says not to worry. Dormitories at Sichuan U. were evacuated. Even more people outside now. Worried people.

Tianfu Square is packed. Fists raised high, a thousand voices cry out, "China, Keep moving!" Red flags everywhere, people united. Faces contorted by passion, tears, fear, pain, loss, togetherness, anger.

Despite all, the people are holding together.

Never seen such solidarity in crisis. Real humanity.
