For as long as I can remember the left has attacked the tobacco companies for producing and selling such an addictive product. But now there seems to be real “change” coming from Washington and the Obama administration. The government wants a much bigger kickback off of those addicted. Obama is banking on the fact that those who smoke cant quit. So much so that he has placed the health care of 4 million children on the backs of those who smoke. This is coming from a president that constantly rants about fundamental fairness. He speaks of health care as if were in the bill of rights and insist that it is our duty as Americans to share this burden. So is it fair that the tobacco users pay more of the bill than those who don’t use tobacco? At the same time government says that this tax will cause a million smokers to quit. So if a million smokers quit that is a million dollars a day coming out of that fund for the 4 million children. I think the 4 million children are being used here and those who support the tax hike are being lied to. Just like the outrageous federal tax on gasoline. The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 stipulated that 100% of the gas tax be deposited into the fund for our highways. But what is Obama’s main stimulus plan focus on, that’s right our crumbling highways and bridges. That 18.4 cents per gallon we pay for our highways and bridges has been spent elsewhere. I’m afraid this childcare fund is as big a fraud as the gas tax has been. They like to gain our support by claiming it is for something we all want but once passed they use the money for whatever they want. Where is the fundamental fairness in all of this?
