iReport —

The kidnapping of Captain Richard Phillips by Somali pirates had a wonderful outcome this Easter Sunday. Congratulation to all involved in the courageous rescue of Captain Phillips. It makes me proud to think what can be accomplished when the resources of a nation are brought to bear when one of our own is in danger. An American was in danger and Americans responded.

Here’s what worries me; 14 American dogs were found skinned and dumped in Rush Creek in Logan County, Ohio at the beginning of April. The dogs were healthy when they died. Their nails had been trimmed and they appeared to be family pets. Necropsy results from Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine indicated all the dogs had similar stomach content, suggesting they were fed or baited with the same thing before death. Important evidence to go on if say it was 14 people who were skinned and left to decay in a pile like garbage.

Unfortunately, this event received no coverage by the national press. No Naval response. No resources at all will be brought to bear in the case of these poor souls. So nothing will be done.

This is a subject that I worry about everyday.
