EARTH WEEK SL is a worldwide festival in Second Life, featuring 120 hours of Education, Ecology Tours, Live Music, Exhibits, Art, and Poetry. From 18th April to 26th April 2009, Earth Week SL takes place in over 50 Second Life (SL) regions, organized by 300 volunteers; this 9 day event brings over 5000 world citizens and over 100 speakers and entertainers toward environmental consciousness.

Representing over 40 countries, Earth Week SL is entirely created by volunteers and ordinary Second Life (SL) citizens with extraordinary commitment to save the world's environment. Some Major Real World groups involved in Earth Week SL include: Sierra Club, Green Peace, Amnesty International, Natures Habitat, NOAA Exhibits, NASA Exhibits, and support from World Wildlife Fund, (who sponsored Earth Hour SL).

Earth Week SL bring together virtually all SL environmental groups into one collaborative series of events, including groups such as Ecologia, Etopia, NonProfit Commons, Commonwealth, Avatar Action Center, Humanbe, PeaceTrain, Peace Collaborative, US Democratic Party of Second Life, Justice League Unlimited, TechSoup, The Rings Discussions, Virtual Native Lands, and Imagine Network (the team who brought everyone together).
