I'm 57 years old and I've been unemployed for 10 months. I just saw on one of the morning shows today how your age is a major factor in getting a job. It was good to finally hear someone say that there is age discrimination when looking for a job. knew this, but I just had to hear it)They said a person over 45 can expect ot be unemployed 6 weeks longer then someone younger. I have 14 years experience in my field (Restaurant Management). I get on the computer atleast 3 times a day going to job sites. If I see a new restaurant being built I go to their website and send my resume. I keep in touch with people I have worked with. I go to Job Fairs. I live and breath finding a job from the time I get up till I go to bed. My sister and I tried to start a business cooking food the the seniors in the Park we live in . We hung flyers around the park and the office called us and told us to take them down. They said it was a conflict of interst with the small restauarnt they have in the park. We wanted to help the people who can;t get out. (I actually got 2 phone calls from from 2 people who got the flyers before we took them down.) They both thought it was a great Idea and were sad we couldn't do it. Now we're back to square one.I'm to young to retire, to old to be hired
