iReport —

One year ago, our then 5 year old son was diagnosed with a tectal plate glioma, a brain tumor located in his brainstem.  Doctors said they could not operate or even biopsy the tumor given the very sensitive location.  We were originally told he would survive for 3-5 years and would require radiation and chemotherapy during that time.  Eventually, the specialists indicated that given its grade 1 status and likelihood that it would not grow that no treatment was necessary.  Rather, he must undergo an MRI every three months to see if the tumor has changed.  So far, through many prayers and the grace of God, there has been no change.  Since discovering the tumor, he has participated in football, baseball and basketball with no repurcussions and is leading a normal life.  Every three months he has to be put to sleep for the MRI and he actually looks forward to it.  This boy is my hero and has given me much inspiration and faith in God, as he goes through this with courage and no fear.
