Gasoline prices spike from $2.18 to $2.45 in Indianapolis
May 19, 2009 | Indianapolis, Indiana | Vetting explained
The Memorial Day gasoline woes started this morning on Indianapolis' southside when gas prices rose from $2.18 to $2.45. Through the grapevine (friends and family members), a lone gas station, Murphy USA, on Emerson Avenue was still selling gas at $2.18 while other gas stations in the area were changing their signs to $2.45.
Needless to say, the gas station was jammed. At noon, the station was still selling at the cheaper price. I drove all my cars to the site and filled up the tanks. Every time I drove home to get another car I was fearful that the price would be changed to $2.45. Luckily, it did not.
With my last gas tank full, I drove by several gas stations selling gasoline at $2.45. They were empty of customers.
